A day less ordinary.

Experience the Western Ghats near Sirsi —
forest, a stream, and time to slow down and restore.

ABOUT CAPTAIN'S CAMP

A plantation where nature sets the pace.

Captain's Camp is nestled within our family's areca and pepper plantation near Sirsi, in the heart of the Western Ghats. Surrounded by forests, streams, birds, and wildlife, it offers a rare chance to slow down and reconnect with nature.

Founded by Capt. Sujay Hegde after a career in the Indian Army and the corporate world, Captain's Camp was created to share the beauty of this land without changing its character. Stay in our signature Machan among the trees, unwind in a forest tent, or enjoy the comfort of a cottage—all while experiencing life on a working plantation.

This isn't a resort built around nature. Nature came first. We simply invite you to be a part of it.

Three ways to spend the night.

— No. 01

The Machan

Wooden cabins raised into the canopy. Mornings come through the leaves before they come through the windows.

The Cottage

For when comfort wins. Wooden floors, hot showers, a window onto the trees.

The Tent

An actual tent in a forest clearing — camping the way it's meant to feel, not comfort dressed up as a room. A real bed inside, the whole night just past the canvas.

The days unfold.

— around six, first light

Mornings start when the birds decide.

The mist sits low over the plantations until the sun pulls it up.

— mid-morning, into the trail

Trails fan out from the camp, all walkable.

The longer ones take you past the stream — ask at the desk if you'd like company.

— afternoon, archery and air rifle

A wooden bow, twenty paces.

The kind of quiet you remember from a school field.

— most days around four, the hornbills

They pass through the canopy most afternoons.

Sit on the Machan deck and you'll usually hear them before you see them.

— dinner, from eight

Dinner, once the dark settles in.

Served by the fire until half past ten — and the fire keeps going as long as anyone wants to stay up.

Good to know.

Breakfast is included with every stay. Wifi runs throughout the property, strong enough for a video call from any cottage. Pets are welcome, with a note ahead of time. An EV charger sits near the entrance. Free parking. A small play area for children near the dining pavilion, and an open amphitheatre for evenings that turn into gatherings.
